We had our wedding here in October, it was an incredible day and we were blessed with glorious weather. The barn lent itself wonderfully to the rustic Lord of the Rings theme we went for.We did have some issues with the catering, we had a large amount of vegetarians attend the wedding and the meal was changed from what was agreed and therefore wasnt to many of the guests tastes, however after discussion we have agreed that they would refunded us for the meals affected. We would like to thank the wonderful team, specifically Nadia who was a great support from day one, she quickly responded to every query we had and really helped us feel calm and organised up to the big day, also a big thanks to Tony and Dianne who were brilliant on the day itself. Thank you. Abi & Matt
We attended a friend's wedding at Cantley on 25th October. The overall experience was fair and the wedding was beautiful, however, we did suffer a few snags on the day. The main issue was that the Bride and many of her guests were vegetarian and had various other dietary requirements. The Bride therefore took great care in picking a menu option that would suit all her guests. Everyone was looking forward to the wedding breakfast but unfortunately what turned up for the vegetarian's was nothing like what it should have been. It was a completely different meal which did not meet the guests' tastes or various dietary requirements. Many of the guests could not eat the meal - including the poor Bride! I understand the Bride has tried to contact Cantley about this issue but was told that the chef had merely "interpreted" the menu choice "differently" on the day. Of course we know they must have known of this menu change for quite some time to ensure they had the ingredients in, yet the Bride was never notified of the substitution and so had no opportunity to object or raise concerns. So, whilst the overall experience was fine, I would not recommend booking here if your guests have particular dietary requirements - as you could be served up anything on the day!
Very nice hotel although I would've preferred a cooked breakfast included in the price of the overnight stay. The dining chairs were uncomfortable.
We booked a two night stay over the Christmas period but left a day early as very disappointed with the deluxe room. There was a complete lack of detail on the part of the management - these are just some of our observations:No room folder telling you the opening times of the restaurant, where the keys were to open the windows, how to operate the TV sound system or audio in the bathroom, no coffee table (had to use a chair to stand our drinks on), no ashtrays outside - outside light not working. There were stains on the lounge carpet, the sofas were grubby and dirty and the old dark wood furniture gave the room a dowdy look. One radiator in the bathroom not working. Bedroom dowdy looking and furniture needs upgrading - and bedside cabinet had 4 empty Foster beer cans from a previous occupant !!I certainly cannot in any way recommend this hotel.
Had our company Christmas party here. The Briar Barn was the perfect size for about 35 people. The food was very good, not dry and served well. The staff were friendly. Would recommend this place for this type of event.
